Appointed To SC Probate Code Revision Committee

Hank Sipe of Sipe Law Firm in Rock Hill has been invited to serve on the Probate Code Revision Committee.  Its purpose is to study the current South Carolina Probate Code and recommend proposed changes.  The committee is divided into sub-groups corresponding to various provisions of the Code.  The inaugural meeting was held at the SC Bar Convention in Myrtle Beach January 2009.

Previously, Hank was invited by South Carolina Secretary of State Mark Hammond to serve on a committee to address legislative changes to the South Carolina Business Corporation Act ( “SCBCA”).  Among other things, the committee compared the current SCBCA to the Model Business Corporation Act, as amended.  The committee held is inaugural meeting in Columbia, South Carolina December 2007.

Also, in 2003-2004, Hank served at the invitation of the Director of the South Carolina Department of Revenue on a Blue Ribbon Committee to update various corporate laws including the South Carolina Uniform Limited Liability Company Act.  The efforts of that committee culminated in passage of legislation signed by the Governor on April 29, 2004 (Act No. 221).
